CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Tar Heel fans in the Charlotte, N.C. listening area will continue to hear football and men’s basketball game action for the next five years on WBT 1110 AM and 99.3 FM as the partnership extension formally was announced today by the station and Learfield’s Tar Heel Sports Properties on behalf of UNC.

In the new term, Entercom-owned WBT, Charlotte’s News Talk, will broadcast live all football and men’s basketball games, as well as the respective seasonal coaches’ shows with Larry Fedora and Roy Williams. Tar Heel Sports Properties secured the extension with WBT through the 2021-22 athletics season as Learfield’s local team manages all aspects of the radio network and is UNC Athletics’ exclusive multimedia rightsholder.

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with the University of North Carolina,” said Entercom Charlotte’s Vice President – Market Manager Matthew Hanlon. “These two iconic brands working together is a Carolina tradition going back to the Dean Smith days. WBT and UNC in Charlotte just makes sense.”

“We are so excited to continue the relationship between the Tar Heel Sports Network and WBT,” said Tar Heel Sports Properties Vice President and General Manager Chuck Schroeder. “The Charlotte area houses one of the strongest Tar Heel fan bases in the state and having a respected partner with a powerful signal is tremendous for UNC’s athletic programs and fans.”
