ST. CLOUD, Minn. – J.W. Cox and Dave Overlund will serve as the Huskies football broadcast team this season as announced today by St. Cloud State University Athletics and its multimedia rights holder, Learfield’s St. Cloud State Sports Properties.

Cox, a familiar voice to the program, makes a return to the booth as the Huskies’ play-by-play broadcaster and SCSU alum Overlund makes his debut as color analyst. Fans can hear all 11 games this season on AM 1240 WJON – the new broadcast home for Huskies football – beginning with the home opener at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1 against University of Sioux Falls.

In addition to Huskies football, Cox has previously served as the voice for Huskies men’s and women’s basketball (2011-14). He has long been a part of the community, calling St. Paul Saints’ games, as well as various high school sports throughout the year in the Twin Cities area for North Metro TV and Prep Spotlight TV. Cox also broadcast the Minnesota State High School soccer and softball tournaments on Prep 45 TV. He is a California native and graduate of Arizona State University.

Overlund, sports director for Townsquare Media in St. Cloud, also broadcasts local high school sports and hosts Granite City Sports on AM 1390 KXSS every week day. While attending SCSU, Overlund called Huskies football, hockey and baseball for the campus radio station, KVSC. Overlund is from Apple Valley, Minn.

“We’re thrilled to welcome back J.W. and have Dave join him in the booth. They both share an affinity for the Huskies that we know will resonate well with fans,” said Matt Rau, general manager for St. Cloud State Sports Properties. “Our new relationship with Townsquare Media of St. Cloud has already provided for quality broadcasts and excellent coverage for fans, and we’re excited now for football season to kick off.”
