ESPN Houston 97.5 FM, Yahoo! Sports Radio 1560 AM to Carry the Aggies Through 2021

HOUSTON – Texas A&M University fans living in the greater Houston area soon can turn to KFNC-FM 97.5 ESPN Houston and KGOW-AM 1560 Yahoo! Sports Radio beginning this fall as a new radio home for the Aggies has been named.

The five-year agreement – kicking off with football, when Texas A&M plays host to UCLA on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. – is between Gow Media and Learfield, the Aggies’ exclusive multimedia rights holder. Through the 2020-21 athletic season, fans can listen to KFNC-FM 97.5 ESPN Houston for live broadcast of all football and men’s basketball games, as well as the respective seasonal coaches’ shows and the Aggies’ daily updates. KGOW-AM 1560 Yahoo! Sports Radio will simulcast select football play-by-play action and will re-broadcast all football and men’s basketball coaches’ shows, in addition to broadcast of the Aggie daily updates.

“We’re thrilled to add Texas A&M Athletics to our 97.5 FM lineup,” said Gow Media CEO David Gow. “We are excited to participate in the passion and culture of the Aggies and couldn’t be more pleased to partner with Learfield on the broadcasts.”

“The greater Houston area is incredibly important to Texas A&M, given the large number of Aggies across the region and close proximity to Aggieland,” said Jason Cook, Texas A&M’s senior associate athletics director for external affairs. “Gow Media’s large broadcast footprint and its strategic affiliations with ESPN and Yahoo! Sports provide a tremendous advantage as we reach Texas A&M and SEC fans throughout the region and grow our fanbase even further.”

According to the Nielsen 2014 Media Report, Aggie fans in the Houston market have increased by 26 percent since Texas A&M’s move to the SEC in 2012. Additionally, Aggie fans comprise 24 percent of Houston adults.

Learfield has long been immersed in the collegiate athletics landscape. In addition to Texas A&M, the company manages the multimedia and sponsorship rights for more than 120 collegiate institutions, conferences and arenas, in addition to supporting athletic departments at all competitive levels as title sponsor of the prestigious Learfield Directors’ Cup.
