PLANO, Texas – Overall company growth and significant business extensions have led to the creation of three senior-level positions for Learfield Sports in its Texas headquarters. Kelvin Smith has been appointed vice president of business and legal affairs, and Alex Pendleton has been named vice president of finance. Additionally, Daniel O’Quinn has joined as controller of extended business lines.

Smith, a Harvard Law School and Stanford University graduate, has relocated to Texas from California, where he was serving as a corporate associate for King & Spalding LLP in Palo Alto. ksmithPrior to that, he served as a finance associate for Bracewell & Guiliani LLP in Houston, Texas. Smith will be responsible for guiding Learfield Sports in areas of corporate counsel in terms of its university partnerships and in house needs.

Pendleton, a CPA, joins Learfield Sports from Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group, where he served as vice president of accounting for the publicly traded company based in Alex PendletonSouthlake, also in the DFW Metroplex. Prior to that, he was in public accounting for Arthur Anderson and Ernst & Young. Pendelton, who received his BBA and MPA from the University of Texas, will oversee significant portions of the company’s finance function, including accounting and financial reporting for the company with a team in Learfield’s Jefferson City, Mo. location also reporting to him.

O’Quinn most recently served as manager of financial reporting and assistant controller for CVSL Inc., a publicly traded holding company focused in direct selling businesses. He also has experience serving with Commercial Metals Company and KPMG. Daniel O'QuinnO’Quinn, a CPA who received his BBA from Texas State University, will provide internal financial leadership for Learfield Sports’ SIDEARM Sports and LRG businesses, as well as for its ticketing joint venture (IMG Learfield Ticket Solutions) and concessions joint venture with Levy Restaurants (Learfield Levy Foodservice).

Vice President of Business Legal Affairs Smith will report to COO Marc Jenkins, and Vice President of Finance Pendleton and Controller O’Quinn will ultimately report to Learfield CFO Matt Hupfeld.
