ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s basketball program and Lobo Sports Properties have announced the addition of Hunter Greene as the team’s radio analyst, joining play-by-play announcer Robert Portnoy. Greene, who played for the Lobos from 1983 to 1988, replaces Scott Didrickson who recently moved to Washington to pursue other career opportunities.

NewMexico_property logo image “It was apparent from the start that Hunter Greene was the obvious replacement as we began the search for a new analyst,” said Kyle James, Learfield Sports’ Lobo Sports Properties General Manager. “Given his background as a player, love for the Lobos and presence in the community, we believe Hunter is an ideal choice for our broadcasts.”

Greene was a decorated forward for New Mexico in the 1980’s. He still ranks in the top ten in career scoring at UNM and holds the distinction of being the only Lobo with 1,500 points, 600 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals. Greene also holds the program record for most steals in a season with 84 in the 1986-87 season. He also has broadcasting experience after being an analyst for numerous Lobo games on local television.

“I am honored to be the Lobos’ radio analyst and follow in the footsteps of a top-shelf broadcaster in Scott Didrickson,” Greene noted. “I love basketball and my love of Lobo Basketball goes back more than 30 years. This is my school and this is my team. I can’t wait to start working, learning and having fun with the voice of the Lobos, Robert Portnoy.”

While Didrickson will no longer serve as analyst for the entire season, he will be the team’s broadcaster during the 2014 ESPN Puerto Rico Tipoff in San Juan, Puerto Rico in late November.

The New Mexico Lobos will open their season with a pair of exhibitions versus Western New Mexico and Adams State on November 1 and 7 at The Pit.
