Football, Men’s Basketball, Baseball Radio Shows Live from downtown start Aug. 28

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State Athletics and its multimedia rights holder, Learfield Sports’ Bulldog Sports Properties, announced today that Dawg House Sports Grill II, downtown Starkville’s newest restaurant, will host MSU’s popular Dawg Talk coaches’ shows through the 2018-19 athletic season.

A total of 30 radio shows annually will be broadcast live from the restaurant at 217 E. Main Street, beginning Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. with football head coach Dan Mullen as the Bulldogs prepare to play Southern Miss at home on Aug. 30. Additionally, Rick Ray and John Cohen will lead their own Dawg Talk coaches’ shows during men’s basketball and baseball seasons respectively. All shows are live, hosted by Voice of the Bulldogs Jim Ellis, and open to Bulldog fans each week.

The show can be heard live on affiliates of the MSU Sports Radio Network presented by Learfield Sports and to members of HailStatePLUS on HailState.com.

Local owners Stephen and Danielle Boren are excited for the restaurant to be open and are looking forward to becoming a fan favorite throughout the week downtown.

“We were thrilled to find such a historic location that lends itself perfectly for live coaches’ shows and game viewing in a fun, family friendly atmosphere,” said Danielle.

“This was actually part of our long-range plans, to host coaches Mullen, Ray and Cohen for their weekly shows, so to be able to do this in year one is so exciting for us,” added Stephen.

During each Dawg Talk show, Dawg House Sports Grill will offer various drink, appetizer and dinner specials, which can be seen on the restaurant’s Facebook page. Featuring more than 40 TV’s, pool tables, and live music on Saturday nights, Dawg House Sports Grill offers menu favorites such as redfish po’boys and fried pickles.

“We’re pleased the Borens wanted to partner with us as the synergies are there, and it is an excellent venue to host our football, men’s basketball and baseball shows. We’re really looking forward to it,” said Ann Brett Gillespie Strickland, associate general manager for Bulldog Sports Properties, which oversees all aspects for the Bulldog Sports Network including talent and radio affiliates.
