Restaurant to Serve as “Official Home for U of L Coaches’ Shows”

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – For more than a decade, U of L fans have known Tumbleweed Tex Mex Grill & Margarita Bar as the dedicated host site for the one-hour football coaches’ shows. Today, U of L Athletics and its multimedia rights holder, Louisville Sports Properties, announced that Tumbleweed is expanding its presence with the Cardinals and will play host to The Rick Pitino Show as well.

As the “Official Home for the U of L Coaches’ Shows”, fans can head to the restaurant at 1201 River Road to catch a total of 22 live radio shows hosted by Paul Rogers, Voice of the Cardinals. The shows will air from 7-8 p.m. EST – (12) total of The Bobby Petrino Show during football season, and (10) total of The Rick Pitino Show during men’s basketball season.

“We’re delighted and proud about our growing partnership with U of L,” said Tumbleweed President and CEO Matt Higgins. “Tumbleweed has been a part of the Cardinal Football family since the Howard Schnellenberger era. Now, with the addition of the Coach Pitino show – both preeminent athletic programs at the University – can call Tumbleweed ‘home’. From one Louisville legend to another…Go Cards!”

In addition to serving as host site for the football and basketball coaches’ shows, Tumbleweed will continue to honor its “Free Queso” and “Free Taco for 100 points” promotion applicable to all men and women’s basketball games when the Cards hit a certain point total.

“Tumbleweed has proven to be an outstanding partner for Louisville Athletics, and we’re certainly pleased to see them step in this larger role where Louisville1fans can make that affinity connection all year long,” said Jason Oxford, associate general manager for Louisville Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports. “What an exciting time to rally around the Cards, and we’re grateful for the support from Matt and the entire Tumbleweed team.”
