PLANO, Texas – Learfield Sports recently tapped five sports marketing veterans for the role of general manager at its local collegiate multimedia rights entities representing the Marquette Golden Eagles, Indiana State Sycamores, Brown Bears, Temple Owls and Providence Friars.

David McGrew joined Learfield’s Marquette Sports Properties entity in Milwaukee, Wis. having most recently served 19 years as president of MCS Marketing Inc. in Akron, Ohio. He spent 11 years with Host Communications, Inc. in various senior-level positions, and prior to that, inside the athletic departments of the University of Georgia and Clemson University.

Mike Shayotovich joined Learfield’s Sycamores Sports Properties in Terre Haute, Ind. representing Indiana State, coming from USA Today Sports Media Group, where he consulted two years. Prior to that, he spent four years with Associated Press as director of commercial licensing and sponsorship relations.

Additionally, Augusto “Cookie” Rojas joined Learfield’s Brown Bears Sports Properties in Providence, R.I., following an eight-year stint as general sales manager for the Pawtucket Red Sox, Triple-A affiliate of MLB’s Boston Red Sox. Rojas also taught sports management for nearly five years at Johnson & Wales University.

Disston Vanderslice joined Learfield’s Temple Sports Properties in Philadelphia from “The Fanatic”/ESPN Greater Media, where he served three years as an account executive. Before that, he was corporate sales manager for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers one year.

Kyle Droppers transitioned to Learfield’s Providence Friars Sports Properties in Providence, R.I. having spent the prior two years as general manager for Learfield’s Falcon Sports Properties representing Bowling Green State Athletics. Prior to that, he gained over five years of sports marketing, sales and corporate relations experience with the NBA’s Orlando Magic.
