San Jose, Calif. — San José State University alum Justin Allegri has been named the new voice of Spartans’ football and men’s basketball as announced today by Learfield Sports’ Spartan Sports Properties, the multimedia rights holder for San José State Athletics.

Allegri becomes lead radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Spartans in both sports beginning with the 2013-’14 athletic season, having called commercial men’s basketball broadcasts and games for the student station last season. As part of its rights relationship with SJSU Athletics, Spartan Sports Properties handles all operations for the Spartan Sports Network including securing all radio affiliates and talent.

“We are thrilled to have Justin Allegri as our broadcaster,” said Director of Athletics Gene Bleymaier. “His dedication to San José State University and Spartan Athletics truly demonstrates Spartan Pride, and we look forward to hearing him call our games.”

In addition to his work with San José State and coming up through the Spartans’ journalism school, Allegri has experience with FOX Sports, ESPNU, ESPN and ESPN2, and San Francisco’s Sports Radio 95.7 FM during MLB Oakland A’s games. He also served three years as program director and two years as sports director for KSJS 90.5 FM, San Jose and in 2012 was the radio and online broadcaster for the Bellingham Bells’ collegiate summer baseball team in the West Coast League.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be calling games for San José State, not only my alma mater, but the school where I learned to become a broadcaster,” said Allegri, who was ranked No. 16 on the 2011 STAA All American list for college sports broadcasters.

In addition to San José State, Learfield Sports manages multimedia rights and sponsorship for more than 50 collegiate institutions and associations and titles the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup with award co-founders NACDA and USA Today.
