JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (April 25, 2013) – Learfield Communications, Inc., a diverse media enterprise, commemorates its 40-year corporate milestone by hosting an all-employee anniversary celebration April 25-26 in Dallas, Texas to pay tribute to its more than 350 employees, senior leadership team and co-founders Clyde Lear and the late Derry Brownfield.

The celebration will be highlighted by renowned authors/speakers Seth Godin and Ken Blanchard, who will share their respective insights and management expertise with the hundreds in attendance. Additionally, many friends and partners of the collegiate industry will be present. Learfield Sports is the company’s primary operating unit and a highly recognized leader in the collegiate multimedia rights arena with more than 50 properties. Learfield – founded in 1972 as a small farm network in Jefferson City, Mo. – launched Learfield Sports in 1975 as a natural extension to its business handling the radio rights to the University of Missouri, a partner still today.

“It’s quite an accomplishment to be in business for four decades, and we wanted to do something special to celebrate what has been a tremendous year in business and in recognition of our 40th,” said Learfield’s President and CEO Greg Brown, whose Learfield career started in 1984.

A portion of the anniversary celebration will take place at Texas’ own legendary Southfork Ranch, made famous by the Ewing family in the television series, Dallas. It will be complemented by two-day strategic sales meetings and training sessions specifically designed for Learfield Sports’ collegiate properties staff.

In honor of Learfield’s 40th year, Brown participated in Special Olympics Missouri’s one-of-a-kind “Over the Edge” fundraiser last October and rappelled 13 stories from the Jefferson State Office Building in Jefferson City. In addition, Learfield employees raised more than $15,000 for the organization and its programming. The company has supported Special Olympics for years, through employee volunteering and Brown serving on the Board of Directors for the Missouri chapter.
